NMIXX ‘Birthday Wish’: Melon No. 88, 349,988 First-Week Sales
NMIXX 'Birthday Wish' ranked No. 88 on Melon's daily chart for Oct. 26. The group's sixth mini album, 'Strange Muse,' sold 349,988 copies in its first week, while two earlier title tracks ranked higher that day.
'Birthday Wish' slipped from No. 78 on Oct. 25 to No. 88 on Oct. 26. On Oct. 26, 'Blue Valentine' ranked No. 30 and 'Heavy Serenade' No. 35. The Oct. 19–25 weekly chart showed a similar gap: 'Birthday Wish' was No. 81, while the earlier songs ranked No. 29 and No. 35. I find the difference across these chart snapshots especially striking.
NMIXX 'Birthday Wish' entered Melon's Top 100 at No. 34 at 7 p.m. KST on its release date, setting the group's best entry rank, then climbed to No. 5 at 0:00 KST on Oct. 20. The Top 100 tracks rankings by time slot, while the daily and weekly charts measure one day and one week, respectively, so they showed different results.
Hanteo Chart placed 'Strange Muse' at No. 2 on its weekly album chart for Oct. 19–25. Its first-week sales exceeded those of the group's fifth mini album, 'Heavy Serenade,' released in May, by 4,182 copies, or about 1.2%. I like how clearly that modest difference comes through in the numbers.
