ONEW ‘착각’: First Single Album Out Oct. 20
ONEW 착각 arrives on music platforms at 6 p.m. on October 20. The SHINee member’s first single album contains three tracks, and all three are title tracks.
ONEW 착각 leads a three-title-track set
The main title track is 착각. ONEW said the song highlights a positive side of the word and aims to express a pleasant misconception through music and performance. Dance elements make the track more upbeat, and ONEW said watching the performance alongside listening would add to the experience. ONEW also described the song as a way to correct an assumption about their own strengths: because people often complimented their voice, they had thought slower songs such as ballads suited them best, but dance tracks remained among the songs they considered themselves best at performing.
Three tracks, including collaborations with YUJU and ZICO
The album includes 착각, Mind Games with YUJU, and Tic Tac Toe with ZICO. ONEW participated in the work on all three tracks and said lyrics received the most attention during the process. The goal, ONEW explained, was to offer something listeners might think about more deeply after hearing the songs. Mind Games and Tic Tac Toe are the album’s two duet tracks. ONEW said it was interesting to see how YUJU and ZICO each approached singing with careful calculation. ONEW added that, having tended to sing according to the song or the situation, they felt that kind of deliberate approach could also be useful.
ONEW 착각 marks a first single album challenge
For ONEW, this is the first single album since debut. ONEW described putting three songs on the release and presenting every track as a title song as a new challenge. The inclusion of two duets also felt like a fresh element, ONEW said, adding that it was enjoyable to try different things through 착각. ONEW thanked the fandom, Jingu, for taking the time to listen to the songs and said their support leads to new challenges.
